Thirty-three years and still tickin'

~Our 33rd Anniversary~
Eat dessert first
Since the Walla Wallans were in town we decided to have our special dessert with them on our Anniversary Eve. The tart crust was coated with chocolate so the custard part didn't make the crust soggy. So delicious!
Early Eats

I have never been to Beaches restaurant before. There are two locations in the area.  The one inside of the airport is open for breakfast! After seeing the kids off at the security gates, we decided to start our anniversary celebration with eating right there at the airport.
Surf's up!
While we waited for our food, Harlan and I went surfing... on the internet.

We find amazing things to talk about and keep up with friends and family with our electronic devices. Harlan is really getting to like his Kindle. Don't we look like one of those couples that each grab a section of the newspaper at breakfast time?
Wonderful food choices

I had a veggie and meat scramble and Har had an Italian sausage omelet. He said it was the tastiest breakfast he's ever had. This from a man whose favorite restaurant meal is b'fast. We must visit there again.
Fun and friendly atmosphere

When the server found out we were celebrating our anniversary, two of the girls from the coffee bar came over and draped leis over our heads and gave us some of their signature popcorn. I had her take our picture. It was one of those special times that feels like you're away from everything familiar. Very refreshing.
Our favorite "beach"
One of the things I wanted to do that day was to drive around and take in some of the beautiful scenery in the area.  This is a place that Har and I used to sit on the rocks along the Columbia near the Sea Scout base. It's so peaceful down there on the river.
Our downtown river
This picture was taken at our dinner destination, The Old Spaghetti Factory, on the waterfront in Portland. We had a perfect table to watch the traffic on the river.

The decor of the restaurant is so welcoming with its stained glass chandeliers and wonderful lamps and polished wood tables and eclectic mix of chairs and  funky banquettes made of bed head and foot boards. I don't think that we've ever been there, just the two of us. So this was a real treat.

Part of the journey
Cameron wanted to go to Charles' early birthday party and we wanted to go for a drive. We put the top down on the convertible and took Cam to St Johns. Har and I continued on our way south on Hwy 30 and then across the Willamette to Highway 99 E which we took down to Oregon City. From there we crossed over the Willamette again and drove north through Lake Oswego and stopped for dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory.
It was a beautiful day for a drive.  Har wore a cap so he wouldn't get a sunburn on his head. It was fun to get off of the beaten path and do something spontaneous and relaxing.

After being married for as long as we have it's easy to get into our ruts. We talked a bit about what we need to do to make this relationship of ours better for the future. We have only 7 years to go until our Ruby anniversary. Only 17 til our Golden one.
We're going for GOLD! and then after that...DIAMOND!
