There is almost always a line
We took a little trip downtown to VooDoo Doughnuts with Alyssa and the kids. The original location is one block south of Burnside on the corner of SW 3rd and SW Ankeny. We found a parking spot straight away and piled out. We were anxious to find out what this place was all about. It's been featured on Man Vs Food and Vanna White even visited here when Wheel was filmed in Portland. VooDoo Doughnuts has only been around for 9 years so it's hardly a landmark though it's made quite a name for itself.
From the sparkly painted brick wall outside to the colorful interior, the atmosphere alone makes an impression.
Katie was dressed perfectly for the occasion. She practically matched the decor!
Perfect timing
When we got in line we were actually inside the building. When we were leaving the line stretched down the block. As embarrassed as Cam was that I was taking so many pictures, I was not the only one acting touristy down there. It seemed like every other person had a camera or was taking like they had never been there before.
We shared our bounty at BPA
As we were driving towards home we swung by Harlan's work and offered him a doughnut for his morning coffee break. He chose the cake doughnut with frosting and coconut. This morning we each enjoyed one of the raised ones after breakfast. Their basic doughnut is nice and not too sweet. But they are known for their 90-something different varieties. Cam did seem to like the maple bar with bacon. And Hayden loved the raspberry filled voo-doo-dolly. Next time I think we'll check out the VooDoo II location in SE Portland.

Yum, I don't know where to get doughnuts down here except the grocery store, we'll have to look into that :)
