Grampa and Gramma's Grand adventure

Henry and Anabelle entertain
I made supper while Harlan was entertained by the kids.
They were really good eaters and before long it was time for...
Bathtime, Books and Bedtime
You can see where Henry's sunscreen was applied prior to him taking his shirt off. Poor boy was experiencing a sunburn for the first time ever. Now he'll remember what it feels like and perhaps he won't fuss when his mom and dad want to apply that sunscreen!

We had a stack of a dozen books to get through before heading off to bed so we got right to it. About half way through Anabelle started acting like she didn't want to wait any longer to go to her crib so Grampa gave her her bottle and settled her in. Henry and I finished up and he climbed up on his top bunk and we tucked him in and didn't hear a peep!
Our outing for b'fast

You can see the back of this McDonald's from their 23rd floor balcony. What isn't obvious from that vantage point is that it's uphill almost all the way to the restaurant. I took a picture of their balcony on the way back toward the building. You can just barely see the pinkish chair through the glass. It's on the third balcony down in the middle/left side of the photo. If I'd taken a picture of the whole building you couldn't have pinpointed their balcony.
We walked from breakfast to the park

The flowers were very pretty along the way. I wish they had more fragrance as the olfactory essence of these city streets are not lacking in unpleasant fragrances both from the canine residents as well as the human ones :0/
Though not so much of an olfactory pleasure it was definitely a treat for my eyes! This area has quite a few historic homes in addition to newer lovely developments.

Did I mention that it requires more hill climbing to get to their closest park? It was really fun to be challenged first thing in the morning.
For pre-schoolers only = how awesome!
Although Anabelle isn't quite 2 yet she enjoys running around this place too.
Henry excitedly showed off all of the features of the play structure and other ride ons.
Grampa had the rough job of pushing Anabelle on the swing. And pushing... and pushing... and pushing... She never tires of swinging. She only took a break from asking for more pushes to wave and call out to the dogs walking by.

Henry packed snacks

Henry wore his monkey backpack that carried a couple of diapers just in case his sissy needed them and some fruit snacks. There was a built in table and benches built just their size! Snack time is serious business.
Some more lovely but scentless flowers.
They came back!

Cherise and Kiel came back around lunch time. We gave them the run down on what we did while they were gone. It turns out that Henry can read some of the books from our choices by himself. He sat and proved that to Grampa. What a big boy!!!

We brought Cherise the newest Starbucks mug from Portland and while we were there we picked her up the companion San Diego one. So she can start a collection of "places where I've lived" mugs. We'll have to try to see if they have a LaGrande or Walla Walla version. They stack nicely and could make a nice soup mug or if Logan was around, an ice cream cup :0)

The next adventure we undertook: The San Diego ZOO!
