Thanksgiving 2014

Happy Thanksgiving!
Early morning run

We got to hang out with Henry, Anabelle and Quinn early on Thankgiving morning because their mom and dad were up at the Oregon Zoo. Cherise was running in the 4 mile Turkey Trot. It started up by the World Forestry Center, wound down two the Rose Garden and came back up to end inside of the zoo. Reesie came home with a child's sized shirt for Henry which he loved! He may want to do the kids' walk next year.
Courtney's traditional contribution

Courtney has taken upon the task of making bread buns for every occasion using our family recipe. She does a tremendous job, they turn out great every time.

The feast came together quite nicely. The 24 pound turkey was perfectly browned. I have begun to carve it in the kitchen and  then put out a platter of meat instead of messing with cutting the whole bird at the table.

Family style is hard when you have a large number of people eating so our big family dinners are buffet style and that works out well.

The kids' table and the big kids' table

Everybody was thankful for our time together and for the bountiful plates on the table. We missed having Rylan and Logan & Alyssa's family with us this year. Work and too many miles get in the way of our wishes.
Sweet stuff

Joylynn and Cherise were the contributors to the dessert buffet. Apple, mincemeat, cherry crumb and pumpkin pies, plum pudding and the jello salad from dinner made up the choices.
None of that compares to the lap full of sweeties that I was treated to later that night.
We are truly truly blessed!

Your home always looks so warm and friendly and inviting in pictures (probably cause it is! ;) just like you) Sometimes I wish we could zap across the country just for a night. It's a strange thing to be far from family but I am learning that this place can be home just the same. Still working on getting my house to look and feel as warm and inviting ;)
