Our PCC kids
Two years ago the above photo was taken as Hayden finished a program called YES (Youth Empowered to Succeed). At the completion of YES he received his GED. He chose to enroll in a program to receive his high school diploma while earning college credit. He was in the Gateway to College program for 5 terms completing it this past February.
We attended his graduation ceremony on June 6th.
They had large posters of previous classes displayed on the stage and in the lobby. We found someone that looked familiar ;0) Courtney went through the YES program back in 2008 when she was practically a child!
She hasn't changed that much in looks but is all grown up and been married for over three years now.
For our "SWEET" graduate
He didn't want any sort of fuss or party so I just picked up some cupcakes and made this poster out of candy bars.
It took place at Warner Pacific University
Harlan, Krystle and I got there early to get seats and some for Courtney, Charles and Cameron. It turned out there was standing room only for the friends and family that attended the ceremony.
People that made a difference
Hayden was fortunate to get an awesome academic advisor in Jane Larson. She and Hayden had quite the rapport and appreciated each other's wit. He also had great support and encouragement from the director of Gateway, Slava Scott.
Hayden was nominated for and received a scholarship from Gateway to put towards his continuing education. He is 28 credits away from his OTD (Oregon Transfer Degree - an associates degree to allow a student to transfer to a 4 year university as a Junior) and is excelling in school with a grade point average of 3.86!
WAY TO GO Hayden!!!!
We're so proud of you!
