We heard from Krystle today in the form of a letter.  So if I failed to get you on the list of people that wanted her address, please e-mail me at hartam57@gmail.com and I will send you the info.

Weekend pics

Cameron has taken some sort of baking or cooking class at Pioneer Clubs' skills day every year that he has attended. Around 5 of them so far. He had a pie making class last year and the year before. Here he is this weekend applying his craft. They were amazing apple pies!

Joylynn and her 3 little ones. She always gets dressed up and dresses them up for church. That is one of the things the more contemporary churches have not adhered to that more traditional churches still do. Dressing in your best to go to worship. Thank you for the weekly reminder Joylynn.

And of course with Sunday being a day of "rest"aurants, here we are at Quiznos for supper. Don't you just love those awkward chewing photos.

Sauvies Island... produce market and more

I was looking at my daily dose of websights this morning when I saw the pictures of the day on www.pasty.com and all of a sudden I wanted to go out and get some fresh produce.
I mentioned this on my facebook account and lo and behold someone read the post and hinted that it might be fun to go along.
So here are Lalita and Simon with us at the Pumpkin Patch produce stand.
With Courtney, Hayden and Cameron and the pumpkins.
A "perfect" picture
A perfect something else :-O
Acres of sunflowers.
A test of my panoramic feature.
The flowers we purchased.
A smattering of the produce we picked up.
A bountiful basket of fruit all ready for the sampling.
As I type this the guys Bible study is having peach shortcake with whipped cream. YUM!

More photos of the day...more changes.

I loved the color in this weird picture.

Here is the before and after of Hayden's haircut. With Rowan at lunch and with Danika this evening.

Do you like Courtney's new hair color? It is pretty darn close to the real thing.

Just a couple of pictures I took tonight of the "big" grandkids.

Wyatt always loves glasses and goggles and crazy costumes. I guess anything goes with cool car jammies.

Genevieve loves the polar bear and brown bear that I picked up with the corresponding books from Kohls. I love that program.

And last but not least... look who has just taken off in the walking department. Way to walk Danika!

The Oath

We went to MEPS this morning at 8:30. Krystle was able to join us around nine. We hung out and people watched for a couple of hours before she had her swearing in. There were 7 navy recruits this morning, 11 air force recruits swore just before her group. There was a group of army recruits waiting for everyone to have all their documents in order.
Being aware of the military all of my life and having 3 of our children now, directly or formally related to military action gives me added incentive to hold them all up in prayer.
Krystle wrote on the back of a picture of Danika that she has tucked in her Bible. She is going to look at it when she gets to wonder why she made this big decision. It is something like "I am joining the navy to help insure her future freedom."

"I, Krystle Hilman, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

She's one step closer...

The feet on the right in the above picture will be wearing military issue footwear in just a few days.

We made one more run to Barnes and Noble for refreshments.

Here, Alyssa is giving her fly the coop lessons. It is an exciting time.

Updated blog format

I decided to explore a new template for my blog.  I ended up using the same lighthouse one but added a few features.  Can you spot the five new things?  Some I did and others were obviously an updated version of my old page.

None of this is earth shattering news.  Just been a slow news day around here.  But next week is coming and hoo wah.  Our household will be adjusting to change once again.

Is the stress getting to her?

Most of you know that Krystle is heading off to the Navy very soon. She has a couple of blogs that she is going to want me to update as much as I can for her.

Here she is at church just yesterday....

And here she is this afternoon.
I'm not too worried. There are others in my home that look similar. They are having a little gathering dedicated to a favorite show of theirs.
"Big Wolf on Campus"
Supposedly there is a full moon tonight.

I seem to have a way with grandsons.

Little boys and their first haircuts. Can be rather traumatic.
Wyatt, March 2005. His first haircut.

Fast forward to today in September 2008... Rowan's first haircut.
Isn't he handsome?
To see the before length scroll down to the blog post with him kissing Danika. I just gave him a bit of a trim but, I think it makes him look older. We actually had to eliminate about 20 or so pictures taken during the haircutting process to get one of the two of him crying. He really did just a well as his big cousin did 3 1/2 years ago.

The kids on their "Mama's" Birthday

Here are a couple pics of the kids in their thoughtful mode.

Here they are being industrious. Making a cake for their Mama.

Proud of the results.
Anticipating the opening of the presents they got her.
Heading home to see Jess (Daddy).
It looked to be a pretty nice birthday.
