Fruit and flowers on the farm

I love wandering around the farm with my camera.
There was picture perfect homemade bread on the counter.

Grandchildren were out on the deck. Their container garden has taken off! Henry is quite the helper in keeping it watered. Anabelle was picking tiny little caterpillars off of the lettuce.

We had a visitor under the apricot tree on Saturday. I'm glad that the windfalls aren't going to waste. The chickens love them too.

Sun warmed and lovely apricots in the new egg basket.
The chickens are pretty great

The larger red chickens are the same age as Quinn so they were pretty close to the age to start laying. Krystle helped Cherise clean out the nesting boxes and Reesie put a plastic egg in each one.

The eggs seemed to do the trick. I went out on Sunday morning and found that one of them had laid an egg! Since then more of the hens have started laying. Fresh eggs are just one more wonderful perk of hanging out at the farm. I hope we get out there at least one more time before school starts. Perhaps when the pears ripen!
