Pleasant surprises, projects and people

While in Lacey we had the opportunity to go to their Amtrak Station. I have posted pictures of Portland's Amtrak Station on my blog before. The station in Lacey is different, it was like stepping back in time.
This picture was taken behind the building.
I'm not sure why it says Centennial.

This reminds me of something right out of "Anne of Green Gables".

The train was definitely from 2010.

SURPRISE! Rylan was able to join us for the rest of the weekend's festivities.

Girly Project

Given my quilt fetish, every time I'm in Lacey we have to go to the fabric store. Alyssa wanted to make a tent type of thing over Rowan's bed. I set to planning it out and we purchased fabric. I was antsy to get it done and didn't want to wait until we came to my house to sew it and bring it back up so....
Alyssa bought herself a sewing machine!
Laying out the squares.

Quilting the squares.

Finished from the top.

Manly Project
Logan wanted a workbench organizer in his garage. So Har drew up plans, they got the materials and by the time I knew what was up and began photo-documenting it, it was getting pretty far along.

It is a similar design to the ones Har has down in his shop here at home. They are quite sturdy as you can see in the above photo!
The Perfect Fire
To build a perfect fire you start with the perfect materials... lint, super small twigs, medium twigs, large twigs and firewood. The key is in placing the materials in the correct configuration and feeding the fledgling fire until it becomes a roaring bonfire (or wannabe).

We spent two nights in a row visiting around a campfire in their back yard. Such a treat.

Speaking of treats....
Dessert Extraordinare
This is a New Zealand dessert called a Pavlova. It is a meringue smothered in whipped cream and fruit. Pretty and impressive and DELICIOUS!!!!

Two of the reasons why the road to Lacey isn't too long...

That was a fun weekend!
