Happy 1st Birthday Gar-Bear!!!!

Dressed for the occasion
One year down and a lifetime to go!
Garrett is ONE year old today.

Big Kids Cart
"Katie isn't this incredible!!!" "Huh?"
They are so little and still have silky baby hair on their heads. We continue to get asked if they are twins. I guess when two kids are together and they are the same size, one would assume they may be and fraternal twins don't necessarily look alike.
We left Target and before I could unbuckle him, Garrett was checking out the texture on the outside of the building. He is one of the most tactile kids I've ever met.

PART-AY!!!
Party hats and Hawaiian leis go great together.

Gifts are one of the fun parts. Granny and Pa sent the cool V-tech helicopter. When Gar starts walking he is going to love pulling it around. Katie tried it out this evening before she went to bed. She has given her seal of approval.

"Happy Birthday to you..."

I have never had one of our kids or grandkids dive into a piece of cake like this. He sure wasn't shy about getting down to business!
The party kids. Garrett was so sticky and slimy from his cake I asked that they put the high chair itself on the couch so we wouldn't have to touch him before he got washed up.
I'm hoping these guys will look back on this photo in the years to come and reminisce about time spent with the cousins and the crazy fun they had at Grampa's and Gramma's house.

Bath Party!

This started out with me trying to rinse off his face, arms and hands. It turned into a strip down & get in all out splash fest. Literally half of the water was on the floor by the time I plucked him out. Good thing he got some new bath toys for when he takes a tubby or is in the big kitchen sink. This boy loves his water!

Birthday sleep over?
Every time I see pics of the way we have to give Garrett privacy in his porta-crib to encourage him to go to sleep, I think of some Turkish bazar with tapestries hanging on the walls of a tent. He certainly has a colorful pad. Katie wanted to hang out at his pad for awhile after they were jammied.

Katie was showing Garrett the stickers she got. Neither one of them really talks yet but they do communicate in the language of toddlers. They just like being together.

Garrett would like to thank everyone who came to celebrate with him. It was a fun birthday.

Aunties and their guys

Happy to be here. Or perhaps they were happy to be leaving. I guess I'll have to ask them which it was next time they are around. It was so nice to have them visit for several hours.

Crown Prince Garrett
We saw this birthday crown at Target. I took a picture as Lyssa held it on the boy. I love his little grin. Not too much I don't love about this guy. He has been a joy to have around and Har and I are blessed to count him as one of the blessings of our "old age".

Proverbs 17:6
"Children's children are the crown of old men;
and the glory of children are their fathers."

That leads nicely into the focus of a future post. Father's Day!

Cute fun. Too bad Henry couldn't be in the cousins picture.
Next birthday goes to Anabelle! We're ready.

Hooray first birthday! It was so much fun hangin out with the boy. Katie is quite enamored with his crib. Even though hers is the same way, with blankets blocking the light and such. Somehow his is WAY cooler. Probably the company :) Garrett beats pink giraffe hands down!
