A couple more days of fun

We love Freddy's

When we first moved to this neighborhood nearly 24 years ago, this original Hollywood Fred Meyer was our nearest Freddy's. The building is still there and houses a Rite Aid and various other shops. It still has roof top parking. I found it interesting reading about why Mr Meyer decided to open it. This story and photo are printed on the wall in the newly remodeled cafe seating area in our Hollywood West store.
Finally we visited the playground!
The one thing that we did when Alyssa was here was shop at Fred Meyer. We went to our local one several times but also got to a few others in the area. On Tuesday, we stopped on our way home from picking up a few things to let the kids check out the new play area.

Genevieve was getting over a cold with laryngitis and was home for one final day before heading back to school. So she got to check out the new apparatus along with Rowan, Katie and Evie.

The slide was pretty fun. Rowan wanted them to go down it one after another. Alyssa and Evie monitored the situation so nobody got bowled over into the wet barkdust.

There is a unique ladder that starts with horizontal rungs and ends with vertical ones. Both Genevieve and Katie mastered it.

This was a hammock type of thing. It swung from the four corners. All 3 girls took a turn on it.

One more trip to Fred's before they're VA bound

Evie and Kate found a nice dry new car-cart. Evie wanted to steer both steering wheels at first but then settled for her British controls and let Katie have the American ones. We bought some food for a small brunch. The rolls were almost as big as Evie herself.

Can you tell I gave Miss Katelyn Hanna a bang trim? For weeks her hair has been wild and curly and crazy. This morning? It looked prim and proper and perfectly coiffed. She was rocking her new outfit with her zebra baby-legs and flowered boots dancing with a singing and dancing Christmas sock monkey. We're going to miss this little chatterbox!
Leaf fun

Alyssa took it upon herself to start clearing the walkways of leaves after school. The kids took advantage of the pile and took turns shuffling through it and flinging them up in the air. Danika helped get the pile back together so more fun could be had.
Short but sweet moments

The kids are home for a long weekend as they didn't have school on Friday this week and Monday is Veteran's Day. Garrett came out to meet us and I got in some kisses and snuggles. G'vieve had snuggles for Gunny too. That cat reminds us of our Sabre. He was a great cat and Gunny seems to have a similar personality as well as looks.
Light show
Coming back through the Hwy 26 tunnel into town had us running into slow traffic and about 7 police cars with lights flashing at the city side of both the westbound and eastbound tunnels. There were many   along I-405 also, looking for a bank robber that headed that way. I wish I'd have caught the blue lights reflecting on the tile but I managed to get plenty of red ones.
Dessert out after a yummy dinner at home
I didn't take a picture of our roast beef dinner but did get a shot of the group that loaded into the van and headed to Gustav's for dessert and coffee.

Rowan was not in the mood for pictures in spite of the encouragement of his mom, aunt and uncles. That's okay. We'll take a goofy picture of him as long as we got all three of these precious grandchildren together for one final picture with Har and me during their visit.

Busy baby

I'm glad we had a corner table for the nine of us. It left the very corner chair next to me empty and was a perfect place for Evie to play. I kept her busy chasing ice cubes and drumming on a paper cup and the chair seat too.

These bright eyes do not miss a thing. She's a busy one but she's also one sweet snuggly girl.

It was hard to see them leave after getting used to having them here everyday. Evie was in her stroller going through the security line waving with both hands to Courtney and me. Then she started blowing kisses. Her dad is going to love all of her new tricks and be impressed at how much she's grown in these 5 weeks.

They had five wonderful weeks in the west and I'm thankful.
