Another trip to the airport

All too soon, time to send them off
Alyssa was heading back with one more suitcase of stuff than she came with thanks to two birthdays and some shopping while they were here. The kids were great about packing their loads, though Rowan said his was a bit heavy.

I don't know if Rowie was still tired or if he was a little nervous about the flight but he was a bit quiet in the elevator. I love this picture of Alyssa and her mini-me in ponytails and backpacks. How do they find backpacks so small?
Quick coffee break
We stopped for a Coffee People snack and beverages. The airport is the only place to get these goodies. There used to be 3 Coffee People shops on MLK for our enjoyment but they've all been turned into Starbucks :P So when we have an occasion to be at the airport, Coffee People is a special treat.
And they're off through security
It looked like they got through the security check point without a hitch. Next time they fly I hope that Logan is with them to help wrangle the kids. Alyssa needs an award for bravery for taking on the cross country flight with the kids on her own.

Their plane is the one with the eskimo wearing the lei. You can't tell which airlines some of these planes belong to by looking at their paint jobs. The Timber's plane is an Alaska Airlines one. There also was one that was painted orange and black with a OSU Beaver on it.
Whatever pays the bills, hey?
Finishing touches at Freddy's

I brought Har to see the progress at "our" Freddy's. I heard that there will be an employees breakfast on Tuesday to celebrate finishing the project. The only complaint I have is that the kid's clothes department which used to be quite large has been squished into about 2/3rds of the space that they had. Other than that it's amazing. I'm going to look forward to finding a parking spot in the back of the store now that the construction workers aren't going to be taking up all of the spaces.
Spending a Saturday at
Habitat for Humanity

Hayden spent the day working on a house for Habitat for Humanity. He enjoyed it a lot! He spent the day in a harness and hard hat up on the porch roof putting siding on the second story. He's trying to talk Harlan into going with him one of these coming Saturdays.
I don't know how many homes are being built on this street but I saw at least 5 in various stages of completion. Here is the Habitat construction trailer.
Veteran's Day
There was a slide show at church today for Veteran's Day. I got to talk to one veteran that was seated in front of me. He had some interesting stories to tell about being in Germany when Khrushchev wanted US troops to leave that country. He also couldn't leave the Army when his tour of duty was up because President Kennedy froze all discharges because of the Bay of Pigs crisis.
I'm sure that each and every one of the men and women who have served in the Armed Forces have similar stories. It was nice to be able to stop and recognize the sacrifices made on behalf of our country and its people.
The final slide is pictured above.
Thank you veterans for everything.
Our gratitude and prayers and love are yours.
