Puppy dog tales: we loved you Mad Max

A dog who loved well
Our hearts are sad tonight because we lost our "grand-dog" Max. We got a call today telling us that he had been hit by a car and died. I went through my blog and found that I had posted a lot of photos of him in the 6 1/2 years that he was a part of our lives. Though he was Logan and Alyssa's dog, he became part of the family to our whole gang and to Logan's parents as well.

He was the best dog we've ever had the privilege of knowing. Australian Shepherds have a wonderful personalities and Max embodied all that in a very small package. He was a red mini-aussie, regal and very handsome.

They got him in the spring of 2006. Last December when Logan and Alyssa got transferred across the country they decided to leave Max behind with Logan's Mum and Dad in Sisters, OR and have him flown to Virginia at a later date.  After further thought, Max was going to stay with Allan and Kathryn on the ranch. It was the best place for a dog like him.  He went from being Mad Max the Road Warrior to Trail Max.
Logan and Alyssa provided a great home and training for Max. They had a great big yard and provided kids for him to herd. He did a fair amount of that here with the rest of our grandkids too.
Allan and Kathryn gave him a life that other urban dwelling dogs can only dream about.  Not only did he have the ranch and all that goes with it, he had two people that understood him and loved him dearly.

Thank you Logan and Alyssa for sharing him with us.
Thank you Allan and Kathryn for providing the ultimate adventures of this past year and caring for him so lovingly.

It's taken me all day to be able to look at pictures of Max without copious tears. Thank you for this sweet blog. There's an awful lot of hearts that have some mending to do. This helps.
