Continuation of Mother's Day

After a long school day
I like when the lawn at the school gets long. It invites kids to just sprawl out in the soft thatch and watch the clouds sail by. We had an afternoon with those conditions this past week.
My Mother's Day surprises from Garrett
Garrett made a poster for me at church last Sunday. His little handprints are in the middle in purple and green. So sweet!
He also picked out a cake!

From his point of view it says WOW. My sentiments exactly... Wow! Pretty cake.
The kids volunteered to help me sample it.
We had a little dance party. I love seeing them all do the motions along with the characters on the screen.

Birthday party in the neighborhood

Danika stayed with us over night on Friday so she could attend a friend's birthday party on Saturday afternoon. She suggested that we take her to McDonald's for breakfast. She even told Harlan what he should eat! She then counted down the hours until we could drop her off for the party. Look at that bounce house!!! Guess who wants to have us rent her a bounce house for her birthday in August.
I finally got my variety shade basket
I don't have a very green thumb, so impatiens are about the only plants I have successfully kept alive. They are so easy as they let you know when they need water. They start wilting and come back beautifully if you attend to those needs. This shade loving basket has an airy looking white flower and a cascading light green plant in it too. I was happy to place this container into the stand that has been housing an annual arrangement for the past several years.

Misty morning on Rocky Butte
Just after sunrise this morning there was a shroud of mist enveloping the entirety of Rocky Butte. It was really pretty from the parking lot at church. After I dropped Har off to set up the stage and soundboard I saw the early morning sun hitting the side of the skate church building. It was a beautiful morning.

Today was the first time since 1987 that I've sung with an official choral group. It was Pentecost Sunday and they had a choir singing during worship time. Our head sound tech was on trombone, so Harlan had the pleasure of riding the sliders on the soundboard and fighting feedback from the choir mics. :P I had a wonderful time and would love to get my voice back into shape to be able to do this again.
