More Global experience photos

Wyatt class tree
It was nice to see each of the classes and the focus on a certain part of our world. Wyatt's classroom focused on Portland so it was appropriate to have a tree with all of the students growing here in our community pictured on it.
Focus on art from Tibet

Mr Lamp, the art teacher, had tables set up and ready for the kids to experience sand art. It's not meant to be a permanent  display. It lasts only as long as the sand remains undisturbed.

Drums and keyboards African music

The music teacher, Mr Gilpin had the auditorium set up with drums of various sizes which people freely played. The keyboards were outfitted with headphones so only the person making music could hear it. I can't imagine the cacophony if every keyboard was filling the room with sounds in addition to the drumming.

Genevieve's class featured China

We went to watch a short video presentation about China in Ms Mode's room. In each room that we visited we got a stamp for our passport. We had to affix them to the correct continent.
A nostalgic shot of the stairwell for you former Sabin students
Wyatt was half way down to the lower level, G'vieve's on the landing and Danika is headed down too. We were off to...
The Library

Ms Tini had a table set up for each continent featuring books with stories about the geography, history or simply stories about the peoples of that region. To earn your passport stamp there you needed to pick out three books. Each one from a different continent and tell the librarian why you chose them. Genevieve chose hers because it is one that she saw in her classroom. Danika like the picture of the people on the front and Wyatt chose his because it was a story that Ms Tini read to his class last year.
We can all do our part

All of the Kindergarten classes sponsored an environmental awareness theme.
Each child picked something that they or their family can personally do to make this world a better place to live in. They decided that picking up trash and recycling were things they could do more of.
The rainforest
One of the second grade classrooms had a great display of a tree house village. It was super cool!

Our passport didn't get full but we got to see quite a bit of stuff and were treated to a nice buffet of food from Amalfi's Italian restaurant. The kids were excited to hear that Amalfi's was where their parents' wedding rehearsal dinner was held. The antipasto trays were incredible!!!

And now another social evening at the school is in the record books and in our souvenir passports.
The students and teachers ought to be commended on a terrific job.
