Watching the race with friends

Freddy's run
Harlan and I made a run to pick up some last minute things for our Taladega Brunch. We stopped at Pete's for coffee. I made a heart on the top of Har's latte.

Courtney and company

These guys were only at our Talladega Brunch for the food. Or "Tom-lettes" as they are now referred as. We had a lovely spread consisting of Tom's famous omelette bar. This time featuring taco omelettes for those embracing Cinco De Mayo. I made biscuits and sausage gravy, tots and bacon. We also had strawberries and whipped cream to go with the biscuits for people to have as dessert. Lots of coffee, juice and good times were enjoyed.
The gals and the guys
Kim and I were on the same wavelength or something. We were both wearing bright turquoise!
The guys were more subdued and were attempting to look "smart". They manage to pull it off the look quite handily.
The race in Talladega had a 3 1/2 hour rain delay. They had run more than have of the laps needed to officially have "it count", (whatever that means) but it is still more fun for the fans and the drivers to have them drive the full 499 miles if they can do it safely. The racers got back to their cars and they managed to finish before dark. Why does the Talladega Speedway not have lights? It made for a very  interesting day.
I'm sure David Ragan (yesterday's winner) was glad he took Churchill's advice and never, never, never gave up!

Thanks Tom, Kim, Sarah, Vinny and Molly for coming. We'll have to do this again.
 Stanley Cup BBQ anyone?
