Coming out of the deepfreeze

Sure it's pretty but...
It's pretty cold too.
This was the readout on our van on the way to church early this morning at 6:00.

By 7:51 it was up to 27 degrees.

I'm looking forward to the over night temperatures to stay above freezing. I'm getting to be a wimp in my old age. I love the look of frozen precipitation but don't like to get up close and personal.

Night out with the boys

Harlan, Hayden, Cameron and I went out for the evening. We also went shopping for school clothes for Cam. I'm slowly but surely getting used to the idea of him being out of the house to attend high school. He'll be getting a bus pass but his is one of the high schools that doesn't have any decent city bus routes to get there from here. He'll probably walk the 1.6 miles to and from school. He's hoping to get his driver's permit the day he turns 15 so he can be driving  next fall. He does realize that I'd have to be riding along in the passenger side seat.

Before we shopped at Burlington Coat Factory, we popped into Stanford's at Jantzen Beach.

The four of us shared a bowl of lentil soup as an appetizer.  There was no sharing of desserts though. The guys each ordered their own.

I taste tested each one just to make sure they were edible ;0)

Happy Birthday Jess!
Once every 4 years, Jess has to share his birthday with the Presidential Inauguration. However this year  Jan 20th is on a Sunday so the inaugural activities will be tomorrow. I hope Jess had some activities of his own to celebrate his special day and that he had a fun time with the kids. Since he had to go to work today we'll celebrate by taking him and Joylynn out for dinner on his next day off. Our married kids have it pretty good in that they get two birthday dinners a year. One for themselves and one for their spouse.
Birthdays around the calendar
We'll party for Jess' 38th soon, Courtney's 21st is next month, Krystle's 26th is in March and then Cherise's 29th is in April. It was nice of our girls to marry some guys that had birthday's in months that we didn't have one of our kids born in. Jess, Logan and Charlie filled in months that we didn't have covered. The grandkids are filling the calendar in quite nicely. We have people to celebrate every month!
But Jess starts the year out for us.
So Happy Birthday, Jess! We wish you many many more!!!
