Happy Birthday Cherise!!! first a.m. in San Diego

Celebrating Cherise's 29th Birthday

We made Cherise open one present before we headed out to treat them to a birthday breakfast. She looked so pretty in her new sundress and skinny belt.
Belle-belle was munching on Kix while she waited to leave.
On the way to the restaurant

The city is a pretty interesting place. Especially when they are doing construction and a three year old boy gets to see a real dump truck in action!

Then there is the wildlife...

Cafe 21
Cherise chose a wonderful little place that wasn't too far from their building.   I totally loved the decor. Each of the benches was covered with a hand woven rug, very much like the ones my mother makes. That coupled with the copper buckets that our silverware and napkins were delivered in gave me a comfortable homey feeling. I even got some new ideas for our future sauna from their lighting.

The food was incredible! Everything was made fresh and was so tasty.

Our server was new to the area so she was asking what all we were going to see and thought she'd like to take her husband up to Legoland and also to see the Midway in the harbor.
She even volunteered to take a picture of our whole group.

A couple of interesting buildings
 in the Gaslamp Quarter

I love looking at unique architecture. It is quite an old historic district.
Renting a car for Har and me

We didn't reserve a car so it was a little more of an ordeal to get a car to enable all 6 of us to get to the places we wanted to go for the rest of our time there. The closest Enterprise didn't have any cars available at the time of the morning we walked by so they called to another location. I got on my phone and arranged for a car to be waiting for us.

Cherise took charge of my camera while I was on the phone.  Henry had a large area to run and jump and wait. Anabelle was content to have Grampa push her up and down the street.

With everything arranged we all went back to the apartment and while Kiel and Har went to pick up the car, Cherise got all the stuff ready to go to the beach!!!

Waiting for the vehicles

The guys called to say they were on the way so we packed all the stuff down to the front of the building and waited near the little dog park there.
Anabelle loves dogs and there are plenty to see as theirs is one of the few apartment buildings that allow most sizes of dogs to live there.
It was more than worth the little wait we had. The beach is beautiful!
That will be the focus of my next post.
