Hayden's birthday outings

A good day for a birthday
Perfect sunny morning to head to NW Portland to a place that Man vs Food featured on its show.

Hayden researches restaurants to try on his birthday.  We've gone to good ones.  Stepping Stone Cafe is   known for its food, decor and its attitude. "You eat here because we let you."
The food was good. The decor funky and the attitude.... you'll have to check that one out for yourself.
We got a great table at the window and Hayden got a birthday phone call for Cherise and Henry!

Hayden had already decided what he was going to eat. "The Smothered Bada**" omelette and substitute a "Mancake" for the hashbrowns. It was one big omelette with a whole chicken fried steak and fresh jalapenos among other veggies covered in country gravy.
A man's breakfast!
Did some running around and then lunch

We took the boys to Famous Dave's barbecue place.  We each had a small sampling of what they offer as no one but Cam was hungry even 6 hours after breakfast.
Snacks and presents

Hayden didn't want pie or cake or any other sort of dessert he wanted a pinapple spinach smoothie for his birthday. I stuck candles in an apple oatbran muffin and we sang "Happy Birthday". He got his smoothie and some fresh fruit, cheese, meat and crackers and he was a happy man.
We invested in a Carhartt jacket for him.  It will see him through the winter months for many years to come.
Celebration continued- Day 2
Hayden wanted to go bowling for his birthday but Rylan was working on Friday night so we went on Saturday. We motored to Vancouver, to Big Al's. I think I've only bowled once in my life but Cam chose not to bowl and he and I wear the same size shoes so I got to bowl instead.

Charlie loves to bowl! Courtney loves to have fun. Everybody was happy.
Bowling Birthday Boy.
Me with the watermelon colored bowling ball.
Rylan's favorite at the arcade
After we finished with our games we went over to watch Ry dance.
He's really good. But the best part is that he enjoys himself and gets great exercise.
Final stop frozen yogurt
We passed by a yogurt shop on our way to Big Al's and I told the guys that we could stop there on the way home.  These self serve shops are popping up all over. I love places where the kids can choose exactly what they want.

Happy 18th Birthday Hayden!
