Too many fun pictures

First photo of Fourteen
I snapped this photo as we were heading out for Cam's birthday breakfast.

Harlan and I decorated the Cameron-mas tree at our table at Cadillac Cafe. The waitress served Cam's birthday french toast with a candle in it.
Afternoon at the Amusement Park

This was my first time visiting Oaks Amusement Park. It's been there since 1905! Just inside the gates there are advertisement cut-outs for various coming events.

Hayden and Cameron joined the kids on some rides and just hung back and watched while they rode others. The Tilt-a-whirl was a favorite of all of them.
Cameron has been there with Krystle a couple of times. He was happy to forego most of the grown up rides to allow his nephews and nieces to have a good time.
 The carousel

I took lots of photos of the various horses and other animals on this carousel which are just beautiful! Too many to post here though. There is some odd artwork on it, but as a whole it's lovely and everyone had a good ride.
I don't remember the actual name of this "ride" but it had a Lewis and Clark theme.
Garrett wasn't sure about most of the rides initially but he cried to continue to "ride" when they were over.
It was warm while waiting

Wyatt didn't want to go on this balloon ride. The girls joined Hayden and Cameron.  The amount of spinning of the basket is completely controlled by the occupants.  Cam had theirs going at a pretty good clip. It was the first ride that Hayden felt the effects of motion sickness and Genevieve announced that she "faced her fears" on this one too.
 The kids' favorite
This is just a slide but it was a favorite of the kids.  They climbed up and slid down around a half dozen times.  Garrett only went once since his little legs had trouble climbing up the stairs quickly.
The one they looked forward to
This was a really fast ride. Each car held one or two people and all of the kids wanted to go on.

Neither Danika or Genevieve was tall enough to ride, even with adult supervision. Danika was practically unconsolable. At least until I saw the sign for the ferris wheel. She would get to ride on it, just her and her uncles.

They were on top of the world!
It was the final carnival ride of the day.
Eating ice cream and looking at crazy reflections rounded out our time there.
I'm so glad the 2 for 1 Tuesday coordinated with Cam's birthdate.
It was the ideal outing for celebrating his 14th birthday.
Back home for supper and presents

We scored again financially catching the Papa Murphy's Tuesday two topping special. It is rare for their family sized pizza to be on sale. But it's what Cam requested so pizza night happened early.
For his main birthday present we bought him a handheld personal game player. The Nintendo 3DS. He looked pretty happy to get one and has been having a lot of fun with it.
I had a lot of fun hanging out with him all day.

I think fourteen looks good on him! Don't you?
Happy Birthday Cam

He has definitely gotten more grown up looking since we left. You should post a comparison, 13 year old Cam and 14 year old Cam. I think it's been the defining year of his transition into manhood! At least in the looks department :)

How fun! I bet oaks park has changed a bit since I was there in 5th grade...
Cam is definitely looking older now, and taller. Oh well ;)

Oaks Park is looking so spiffy! We took the boys there in 1987 on our visit home and have photos of them on the carousel - my favorite ride of all!
